June 2006
A devastating earthquake has killed thousands of
people, and made more than half a
million
people instantly homeless. We are going to help.
The
earthquake, only days ago now, has killed over 6000
people. For those people
the
worst is over, for the survivors it is getting worse every day. They are
dealing
with
the loss of friends and family while they cope with shortages of food and
water
and a total lack of viable shelter. There are over 10,000 ‘walking wounded’
and
the hospitals are completely full.

CNN reported that the
small village of Topriaten, the 140
or so survivors have received only one bag of rice. Few houses in the village
survived so most people are gathered under makeshift tarps to get what little
shelter they provide. On 2 June 2006 I am
loaded a van full of medical supplies, food, water and tents to take to this

This

found because she was crying. |

This
was a local university. As I was going through these pictures a guy from the hotel
came over and told me that his it was his brother’s university. It will take
months and years of support to recover from this. |
We
are collecting donations in partnership with Mission Link International, a
charitable
organisation that specialises in this kind of relief work.
To
donate, please click
here or press the ‘make a donation’ button on the main page.
To
the degree possible by allowable communications in the region I will be
updating
our
